Anyone Can Build
Elke Cuppens and Deepali Shinde share their journeys of building their own homes, from a mobile house on wheels to a house rooted in the land.
Through their experiences, they reflect on learning by making, working with materials, and navigating the process of building outside conventional systems.
The talk opens up a conversation on how hands-on building can reshape our understanding of space, sustainability, and everyday living.
Claiming Spaces
A travelling workshop led by Chioma Fears, UHasselt researcher. This workshop invites community members to reflect on how the Pastorie can become a shared space for connection within the North - Zuid Limburg (NZL) transition project. As familiar places change, we explore what may be lost, gained, or missed, and how these experiences can find a place again within the Pastorie.
You may encounter the workshop in the streets, and you can also find us at St Trudoplein on Saturday at 4 pm, alongside the cardboard village.
Under Construction is an open festival at De Pastorie where everyone is invited to build together.
Across three weekends, we explore how shared spaces are shaped not only by materials, but by relationships and collective care.
Through workshops, conversations, and everyday activities, the Pastorie becomes a place built with and for the community.
Because the site is still under construction, the festival extends into the neighbourhood, activating gardens, streets, and
shared spaces around it.
